Corrections and takedowns
Anyone can ask: the author of a post, a community operator, a company or agency named in a report, or a customer.
How to ask
Email hello@threadwitness.com with the subject “Correction” or “Takedown”. Please include:
- The report ID, if you have one (it is printed on page 1 of every report)
- The link to the source post, or the quote or sentence in question
- What is wrong, or what you would like removed
- How you relate to it: author, community operator, named company or agency, or customer
You do not need to tell us your username to ask for a correction. If you want your posts erased, include your username: we use it to find the matching pseudonym and then discard the username you sent. We may ask you to show that you control the account before we erase posts.
What happens next
We acknowledge every request within 48 hours and tell you what we will change and when. A person handles each request case by case. Depending on the request, we:
- Correct or remove the quote, citation or claim in stored reports
- Erase a pseudonym and the posts attached to it, at the author’s request
- Stop reading a community at its operator’s request while the matter is reviewed
Every request is logged with the report it affects and the action taken. Copies of reports already delivered into a customer’s own systems are outside our control.
